A Message from the Artist

My name is John Bowles Knox. My studio is in Oriental, North Carolina, where I paint with oil using a painting knife and brush. My subjects are landscapes, saltwater marshes, sunrises, houses, churches and sailboats either from photos or 'en plein aire'. My large paintings are on stretched canvas and the smaller ones are on hard board or canvas covered boards. My paintings range in many different sizes and colors.
